A donkey lived in a village. It carries a lot of weight every day. She would return to the fields at night, graze well and reach home early in the morning. A fox was introduced to it. Friendship between them strengthened. One day the donkey and the fox went out for food. Finally that night they found a corn field. Many corns appeared to them. Both fell into the corn and ate well. The donkey was eating the corn and said to the fox, “Friend! The sky is very clear. The fruit is full of moonshine. I will sing a song in this happy time, listen.” The fox was confused by those words. “Friend! We are stealing food. If you sing, everyone will hear. The sleeping farmer will wake up and beat us. So don’t sing,” said the fox.
No matter how much he said, the donkey did not listen. The donkey shouted that he must sing. The shepherd of the corn field, who was sleeping to the sound of the donkey’s singing, woke up, took a stick, crushed the donkey and tied it with a rope and went back to sleep. A fox hiding in a tree is watching all this. “Didn’t I tell you not to sing? “Sing without listening to me, you have bought hardships, experience them,” said the fox, and went on her way from there.
Stupid Scholars A Short story for Kids
There are four friends in a village. Once they all four together went to Patna and joined the school there. They studied together for almost 12 years. All have mastered the skill and set out on foot to their village on the jungle path. As they were walking, two paths appeared. Which way will we reach their village? They had a suspicion. The first scholar turned to the scriptures to clear the doubt. It is written in the scriptures, “Walk in the way that all four walk. “But till then no one walked that path. They sat watching and doing nothing. Meanwhile someone went along a path carrying a dead body. Immediately four scholars walked along that path and joined them to the graveyard. There the scholars saw a donkey. Immediately the second man opened the book and looked at it. It is written that ‘those who are by our side even in the graveyard in times of hardships, droughts, enemies etc. are our true friends’.
Based on this, they decided that the donkey was their relative. One wrapped the donkey’s neck and the other washed the donkey’s legs. They also saw a camel nearby. Meanwhile the third scholar opened the book and looked at it. It is written that one should meet the beloved with righteousness. The third one looked around. He found a rope in the graveyard. Virtue also means rope. He immediately took the rope and tied it around the donkey’s neck and then tied it around the camel’s neck. A washerman came there and scolded those who tied ropes around the necks of donkeys and camels. Thinking that the angry washerman would beat the scholars, they ran from there and reached the bank of a river. There the fourth opened his book and saw it. “One leaf lying on the ground is protective,” reads the fourth scholar.
Meanwhile, they saw a leaf floating in the water. Seeing that, four scholars went down to the river and caught the leaf that was floating in the water. But they are being washed away by the flow of water. Those passing by that way rescued the four scholars and brought them to the shore. He took the four scholars from there to their village and arranged meals for the four of them in four houses. The first person who went to have a meal put something sweet in the house. It was as long as a thread. The first scholar thought, “If you eat a long thread-like substance, you will surely fall” and left without eating. The second person was served wheat bread by the householders. He thought that if he ate that wheat bread, his life expectancy would decrease, he left without eating it. The third one left without eating because he did not want to eat in food plate having hole. The fourth one is going to sit down to eat. The stool he was supposed to sit on was wet. He left without eating as if he eats on a wet bed, he will lose his life. All the villagers mocked them for their lack of intelligence and thought that they were stupid scholars. But four foolish scholars reached their village ignoring anyone.
MORAL : This A Short story for Kids story can be said to be a reference to the fact that although they have acquired some reputation as scholars but they are fools without worldly knowledge, they cannot eat anything even though good food is in front of them and they are laughed out of ten people.
