A hunter went to the forest to catch birds. He arranged small nets to trap the legs of the birds and sprinkled food grain around it. The birds they came to eat would get stuck in the traps set by the hunter. The hunter would take the birds to the village and sell them. In some cases he used the birds found as food. Once a great bird from afar was caught in a trap set by a hunter. The bird tried hard to escape from the trap but failed. The bird thought that I must be in danger today. It is very heavy. If you sell it, you will get a lot of money. The hunter eagerly caught the heavy bird. He removed the trap from its legs and tied it tightly with a rope.VAt that time the captive bird begged the hunter saying “Leave me”. The hunter did not agree.

“You are too heavy. I will get a lot of money if I sell you. So leaving you is no problem. If I leave you, I will lose,” said the hunter. “I will tell you a trick that will benefit you. If you let me go, I will let many birds like me fall into the trap you have set. So leave me,” said the bird. “Cunning bird! Are you ready to put all your friends in danger to save your life? It would be a loss if crooks like you are alive,” the hunter took the bird to the village and sold it.

The farmer’s favor and the vulture’s return

A farmer is doing agricultural work. A vulture was caught in a trap set by a hunter next to that field. Seeing that, the farmer felt sorry. He freed the vulture from that trap. The vulture flew freely in the air and sat on the tree. The farmer, tired from his farm work, was sitting against a big wall nearby. It is a very old wall. It also has cracks. That wall is about to come down. A vulture on a tree observed this scene.

Without delay, the turban on the farmer’s scalp was scratched and raised. The farmer chased the vulture to get his turban. Immediately the vulture left the turban. When the farmer took it and looked back, the wall collapsed. If the farmer had stayed there, the wall would have fallen on him and he would have been in danger. The farmer thanked the vulture in his heart, thinking that he had repaid the favor he had done.
