A cat lives in the trunk of a big tree in a forest. A mouse lives in a hole under that tree. A hunter sets a trap at night around the tree where the cat lives. The cat got stuck in the net, and the cat moaned in agony. The mouse came out of its hole after hearing the cry of the cat. The mouse jumped with joy to see its enemy caught in the net. And the mouse moved fearlessly in front of the cat stuck in the net. An owl who was there saw this scene. Seeing the mouse, the owl wanted to eat it. Seeing the owl, the mouse sweated with fear. The mouse thought that if he befriended the cat, the owl would not harm him and spoke to the cat.
“Friend! How are you? Under this tree we have lived together like brothers. Neither you nor I have caused any trouble to anyone. I was thinking of getting you out of this net, but this owl came from somewhere. I am afraid that it will eat me.” The mouse said to the cat pretending. As the cat turned its head, it saw an owl in the distance. “Friend! will you be friends with me I will save you from this trap. But You shall not eat me as food,” said the mouse to the cat. “Why should I kill you, who saved my life? “I promise to save you from the clutches of the owl if you save me,” said the cat.
Believing the words of the cat, the mouse prepared to bite the trap. When the cat and the mouse became friends, the owl became frightened. When its desire to eat the mouse was not satisfied, the owl flew away, thinking that it would surely lose its life at the hands of the cat. Meanwhile the hunter was seen coming. “Friend! The hunter is coming. Bite this snare without delay and save me,” prayed the cat. The mouse without delay bit the trap and went into the hole. The cat that got out of the net got lost without delay. The hunter took the tattered net and left in despair. After a while the cat came down the tree and reached the mouse hole. “Friend rat! We’re friends now, you saved me. I want to hug you and thank you. Come out of the hole right away?” asked the cat.
“I don’t believe your words, cat friend! You are hungry because you have been caught in the net since morning. Hunger has friendships. If I come out of the hole, you will eat me. Salutations to your friendship. I will not come out of the hole,” said the mouse. The cat is gone.
