Once upon a time there was a monk named Sharma in a village, who was actually a monk. As a part of earning money, he used to wear various disguises. Urura would return and preach the prophecies that came to him. People came in droves to listen to him. People who were happy to hear the spiritual prophecies of Sharma used to give him various gifts. Sharma would eat the fruits given by the devotees and distribute the rest to the devotees. But he does not give the gifts given by the devotees in the form of money to anyone. He doesn’t even do good things with that money to benefit others. He is not a person who uses it for his own interests. He kept it in his quilt and kept it with him. This was discovered by a thief named Ravi. Anyway, the thief made a plan to get the money from Sharma’s blanket. As soon as he thought, he went to Sharma in the guise of a great devotee.
“Sir! My name is Ravi. I want to join and serve as your disciple,” Ravi explained very lovingly. Sharma, infatuated with Ravi, accepts him as his disciple. And Ravi showed great humility and obedience and earned a place in the Sharma’s heart by serving. Sharma used to take Ravi with him wherever he went. One day both the disciples went to a neighboring village. After finishing work there, they left for their village the next day. After walking a short distance, Ravi said, “Teacher! I have made a big mistake. The grass of the house where we stayed at night has hit my bag. I will go back and give them their grass.”
“Disciple! Isn’t it just for grass? Leave it,” said Sharma. I will hand over their money back to them immediately,” said Ravi in a hurry, handing over the grass to them, he came back to Sharma. Sharma rested under the tree till Ravi came back. Due to devotees giving large amount of gifts in form of money and hiding them in Sharma’s quilt, its weight increased day by day. So Sharma could not carry it. Sharma is convinced that the disciple Ravi has a good heart that takes other people’s money as a crime.. With that belief, he spoke to Ravi about this matter.
“Ravi! I have grown old. The weight of this blanket is increasing day by day. From now on it is your responsibility to carry it,” he said and gave the blanket to the disciple Ravi. Both the disciples reached the outskirts of their village in the evening. Sharma left for the pond to take a bath. Before taking a bath, he gave Ravi the quilt in his hand along with some other things and said, “Ravi! Keep this quilt and the rest of the things safe with you while I get down in the pond and take a bath.” Sharma went towards the pond. When Sharma came back after bathing in the pond, Ravi was not there. Ravi ran away with Sharma’s blanket and other things. “Ravi!” Sharma shouted several times to no avail. Sharma was deeply saddened that his stashed money had been stolen by an evil-doer.
MORAL : In this world, we face traitors like Ravi in our life. Don’t trust anyone in haste. The money accumulated by a person who does not know charity and indulgence will eventually be used by others.
